Somalia and Tanzania Strengthen Institutional Cooperation and Government Modernization.

TANZANIA -State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister of Somalia, Hon. Hirsi Gaani, who is leading a high-level Federal Government of Somalia delegation on a working visit to Tanzania, today visited the Office of the Prime Minister of Tanzania, where he was received by Deus Sangu, Minister for Labour and Employment.

The two ministers and their respective delegations held a high-level meeting focused on strengthening institutional cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania. They exchanged views on areas of mutual interest, particularly youth employment, workforce capacity development, and the exchange of institutional knowledge and expertise.

Following the meeting, the Somali delegation participated in a knowledge- and experience-sharing session at the Office of the Prime Minister of Tanzania. The session provided an overview of Tanzania’s Cabinet administration and procedures, with particular focus on the preparation and management of Cabinet agendas, inter-ministerial coordination, monitoring mechanisms, implementation of Cabinet decisions, and the electronic Cabinet system (e-Cabinet).

The delegation also visited the Tanzania e-Government Authority (e-GA), where officials presented Tanzania’s experience in implementing and modernizing digital government services.

Discussions focused on government systems integration, shared digital infrastructure, government networks, digital identity, electronic services, data exchange, cybersecurity, and the development of standards and frameworks for government digital systems.

The meetings also explored opportunities to further strengthen technical and institutional cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania, particularly through the exchange of expertise, capacity building for government institutions and personnel, modernization of administrative procedures, and applying lessons learned from Tanzania to the reform and development of Federal Government of Somalia institutions.

The visit forms part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s efforts to modernize public institutions, strengthen public service capacity, improve Cabinet procedures, and accelerate digital transformation, while leveraging regional experiences and strengthening institutional cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania.
